Discovered by broadcaster Jim Gellatly, Paarmik has had his original single Sell Yourself spun across UK and US radio before even turning 17.
Imagine sitting in your bedroom after finishing a song, convinced it will simply get buried beneath thousands of others being released every day. Now imagine that, instead, a respected broadcaster discovers it and starts championing it on his radio show.
Well, that is exactly what happened to 16-year-old Aberdeen artist Paarmik Arvind.
YEAHHH!
was Paarmik’s reaction when he first heard his song, Sell Yourself, from his album PRANA, being played on the radio. Then came the second play. Then the third. Eventually, the track would go on to receive six consecutive plays across UK and US radio.
Sell Yourself explores the less glamorous side of fame, focusing on the pressure of constantly being watched and expected to entertain. The chorus is deliberately simple, repeating “sell yourself” until the phrase becomes almost haunting. Paired with the energetic production and increasingly frantic bridge, it gives the song an uneasy edge beneath its catchy sound.

And somehow, all of this started with a song made by a 16-year-old in Aberdeen. Not a bad way to start selling yourself.
