An array of new leaflets and trail guides were launched today for free family fun in Aberdeen just as the school summer holidays start.
The launch includes six free family fun leaflets comprising three outdoor and three indoor locations, a wild beasts mini trail, an ‘Aberdeen in bloom’ trail guide, and a printable list of all 14 parks and gardens to visit.
Councillor Martin Greig, convener of Aberdeen City Council's Education and Children's Service Committee said: “Aberdeen has a huge amount of recreational spaces and facilities for children and for family-friendly fun. The leaflets are useful guides with information on free local activities.
“This is a good time of year to explore the city and we have so many different places to discover for walking, play and relaxation. Whatever the weather, there is always something to do and interesting areas to spend time.”
Councillor Lee Fairfull, vice convener of Education and Children's Service Committee said: “The school summer holidays can be a long time for parents or carers to come up with things to keep youngsters occupied so these leaflets and trail guides will be able to help.
“We have a beautiful and historic city with many places to discover or rediscover and I hope families have a good time using the leaflets and trail guides.”
The three outdoor free family fun leaflets are for Duthie, Hazlehead, and Seaton Parks and the indoor ones are for the Art Gallery, Provost Skene’s House, and The Maritime Museum.
The wild beasts mini trail includes sightings of Scotland’s national animal – a unicorn – and Aberdeen’s symbolic leopards at locations around the city on crests, as statues, and various other forms.
The ‘Aberdeen in bloom’ trail guides features all 14 of the city’s parks and gardens and includes a Dee to Don trail-within-a-trail, and works alongside the printable list of all 14 parks and gardens.
The two new trail guides means there is a total of 38 trail guides in the series, produced to help people explore the beautiful and historic city of Aberdeen including parks, nature spaces, and urban areas around the city.
The new leaflets and trail guides are available to download and print at Free walks and trails in Aberdeen Limited numbers of many of the trail guides are available from Council libraries.
